Really!?!
Controversial US performer Chris Brown has made good on midweek projections by claiming a #3 debut for his new studio full-length with Tyga, Fan Of A Fan: The Album, on the ARIA Top 100 Albums Chart this week.
Brown and Tyga nabbed the highest new entry for the week, two spots ahead of fellow American icon and original American Idol Kelly Clarkson, whose Piece By Piece slots in a couple of spots below, at #5.
Neither of the new entries could quite manage to shake off Taylor Swift, whose 1989 stays strong at #2 for another week, with Grammy-winner Sam Smith conceding to Brown to see In The Lonely Hour drop a spot to #4. There’s simply no beating bondage, though – the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack is still hanging tough at #1.
Brown and Clarkson weren’t the only new full-lengths to enter the charts this week, however – the EDM team-up of Skrillex and Diplo put in a decent effort, seeing Skrillex & Diplo Present Jack Ü step out at #12, just ahead of a re-entry for veteran rockers Led Zeppelin, whose Physical Graffiti appears back on the charts at #13 hot on the heels of its 40th anniversary. Canadian duo Purity Ring also make a decent debut, at #25, with their LP Another Eternity.

Future Music Festival headliner Drake sees two of his earlier albums – Nothing Was The Same and Take Care – back in the charts, at #58 and #65 respectively, while latest release If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late is this week’s #10 album.
Fellow FMF stars Hilltop Hoods see Walking Under Stars jump up six places from #22 to #16.
It’s a much weaker week for debuts on the Singles charts, where country vet Lee Kernaghan is the highest new entry for the week – Spirit Of The Anzacs claims #32 on debut. The next debuts don’t appear until past halfway down the list, with John Legend & Common’s Glory nabbing #62 and Skrillex/Diplo’s Where Are U Now, featuring Justin Bieber, just behind at #63. The Hilltop Hoods’ new track, Live And Let Go, featuring Brother Ali and Maverick Sabre, steps out at #78.
There are several impressive jumps in the Singles stakes, however – Ed Sheeran’s Bloodstream leaps up an incredible 51 places to #7; Lunch Money Lewis sees Bills lift 12 places to #9; former Jonas Brother, and Mardi Gras guest, Nick Jonas is up seven spots to #17 with Jealous; Sam Smith’s Lay Me Down jumps from #28 to #20; and ascendant Aussie muso Jarryd James enjoys a healthy bump from #44 to #27 for his recent track Do You Remember.
Up at the pointy end, though, it’s much the same as we’ve seen in recent weeks – top placeholder Ellie Goulding remains unmoved from the peak with Love Me Like You Do.
