The deal is worldwide and exclusive
Songwriter and actor Brendan Maclean has inked a deal with Universal Music Publishing, he announced today.
The exclusive worldwide deal is the first time Maclean has signed an industry deal - currently he self-manages and books his own shows (he recently supported Kate Miller-Heidke). The deal arrives as Maclean moves towards his debut album, which was funded through crowdfunding.
He received $21,174 after appealing for $17,500 earlier this year and told theMusic.com.au today that he wasn't likely to seek a label deal for its release, outside of administrative aid. “I haven't got any plans to sign it off to anyone,” he said.
Maclean recently landed a role in The Great Gatsby as Klipspringer.
