‘Breaking Bad’ Actor Leads 2019 Sydney Film Festival Guest Line-up

Joined by 'Narcos' actor Wagner Moura and so many more.

After dropping a stacked 2019 program earlier this week, Sydney Film Festival has revealed the first batch of stars attending the event, including some serious international talent.

Among those slated to make the trip during the 66th Sydney Film Festival – which runs 5 – 16 June – is Breaking Bad actor RJ Mitte, aka Walt Jr, for the premiere of his latest film, Standing Up For Sunny, which was filmed in Australia.

Mitte will be joined by director Steven Vidler and will also appear at a special Meet the Filmmakers talk at HOYTS Entertainment Quarter on June 15.

Meanwhile, as the agents who inspired Netflix series Narcos prepare for their own tour in July, acclaimed Brazilian actor Wagner Moura (who portrayed Pablo Escobar in the series) will introduce his directorial debut Marighelladuring the festival.

Other US guests scheduled to appear include previously announced comedians Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish, who will visit Sydney around the Australia premiere of The Secret Life of Pets 2.

On the local front, Australian director Rachel Ward and key cast members join the party for uplifting drama/comedy Palm Beach (Sam Neill, Richard E Grant, Bryan Brown, Greta Scacchi), which has been confirmed for opening night, while Mia Wasikowska, Damon Herriman and the filmmakers behind Judy & Punch introduce their latest offering and Hugo Weaving appears around the world premiere of Hearts & Bones.

And music lovers can check out The Chills: The Triumph & Tragedy Of Martin Phillipps, with New Zealand director Julia Parnell and The Chills frontman Martin Phillipps confirmed to attend as Australian filmmaker Richard Lowenstein and producer Sue Murray introduce Mystify: Michael Hutchence.
