Two from the US and one from the UK.

AJ Maddah has this afternoon announced there will be three international bands added to the Big Day Out bill early next week to replace Britpop heroes Blur, who pulled out of the event at short notice earlier this week.

Speaking to Lindsay McDougall on triple j, the festival mastermind said that the festival were waiting on one more contract to be submitted before they announced the replacements.

"We're gonna bring you three bands very shortly, we've got one English band and two US bands. The UK band dutifully came through with their paper work and contract and one of the US bands did as well, and the other US band basically pissed off on Thanksgiving weekend…" he said.

Maddah said he was unwilling to take any chances and wanted to ensure all I's were dotted and t's crossed before the announcement was made.

He did give a couple of hints, saying that one of the American bands has a guitarist with TV commitments he needed to get out of before confirming the band could be a part of the festival. He also said that the UK band should satisfy people who were devastated about Blur withdrawing from the line up.
