The Melbourne-made documentary and winner of the Baghdad Film Festival, On The Banks Of The Tigris: The Hidden Story Of Iraqi Music will premier on 3 March at Lido Cinemas, Hawthorn.

The documentary celebrates Iraqi music and the also features some of the world's greatest Iraqi musicians.

Launching the film will be Joseph Tawadros, virtuoso oud player and winner of three ARIA Awards. The director and producer Marsha Emerman states, "Our Melbourne-made film explores the hidden history of Iraqi music and the cultural ties that still connect Jewish, Muslim and Christian Iraqis."

The film also explores many personal stories including the story of Iraqi-Australian exile, Majid Shokor and his journey from Melbourne to Europe, Israel and Iraq to discover the source of the music he has always loved.
