Thanks to The Pinkfong Company, the global entertainment company behind Baby Shark and Sesame Workshop, Sesame Street and Baby Shark are teaming up for a musical collaboration.
In the video below, beloved Sesame Street characters Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Abby Cadabby are learning a new song when Baby Shark and William join in. A game of tag and an underwater dance party ensue, with the Baby Shark theme tune reimagined by the Sesame Street crew providing vocals.
The Pinkfong Company and Sesame Workshop are also curating a special Earth Day-themed YouTube playlist filled with catchy songs and engaging stories.
The playlist features a mix of fan-favourite, nature-themed content from Pinkfong and Sesame Street and the newly released music video. The playlist is on the Sesame Street and Baby Shark YouTube channels.
Bitna Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer of The Pinkfong Company, shared excitement about two kids’ favourites uniting, dubbing Sesame Street a “cornerstone of childhood for over five decades across the globe.”
Kwon continued, “It’s a truly meaningful opportunity for us to create a shared experience that transcends generations, and we hope that the collaboration helps build an emotional connection among modern families while helping them learn about nature.”
Jenny Gioia, VP of Multimedia Programming at Sesame Workshop, added, “We’re always looking to deliver fun, unexpected collaborations to our fans.
“Pinkfong’s Baby Shark is a cultural icon with the most-viewed YouTube video of all time; that’s an unbelievable accomplishment. We knew we needed to work together and give the Sesame Street treatment to their best-known content, creating a vibrant new music video and so much more for kids and families to enjoy.”
Another unusual collaboration involving Sesame Street occurred in February, with music megastar Lizzo appearing alongside Cookie Monster in a fun musical and cookie-filled skit.
Lizzo was gifted a flute made of cookies by Elmo, but it didn't take long for Cookie Monster to appear and cause havoc mid-performance.
Lizzo explained to Elmo, "I’ve played a lot of instruments, but I’ve never played a cookie before. May I?" Elmo instantly started dancing before Cookie Monster appeared, hungry for something other than music.
"That was the one and only cookie flute," Lizzo commented after her cookie flute suddenly disappeared, with only crumbs left behind. "I know; how can me not eat it? What an honour," Cookie Monster responded. Check out that footage here.
