The decidedly Scottish troupe get an Australian touch in the film version of their musical.
Australia's Emily Browning has been cast as the lead character of Eve in the forthcoming film God Help The Girl, which is an adaptation of the musical project of the same name penned by Stuart Murdoch, frontman of Scottish indie darlings Belle & Sebastian.
Browning, who has appeared in films like Sleeping Beauty, Sucker Punch, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and Ned Kelly, as well as television shows like Blue Heelers and Something In The Air, has secured the lead role and looks to be getting right into the role very quickly!
Murdoch himself tweeted a picture of Browning on Glasgow's Buchanan Street late last week, this first image from the set confirming that filming for the movie has begun.

The songs in the musical are certainly in the same vein as Belle & Sebastian's brand of indie-pop, except for the fact that the lead vocals for pretty much all of the songs are taken by females. This is due to the subject matter relating pretty much strictly to the trials of young women as they leave adolescence.
