Terry '2pec' Peck has been released on bail on the condition he not return to Omeros Bros Restaurant in Main Beach

A Gold Coast man who raps under the name 2pec allegedly consumed more than $600 in food and drink at a Main Beach restaurant before literally jumping into the sea to avoid paying his bill.

As the Gold Coast Bulletin and ABC report, 33-year-old Terry Peck faced Southport Magistrate's Court today to face accusations that he had downed $621.30 worth of seafood and alcohol at Omeros Bros Restaurant before running into the ocean without paying.

According to the paper, Peck apparently made his way through "two lobsters, a baby octopus, 21 oyster shots and … a number of Coronas" before making his getaway down the street and into the surf, pursued by members of Omeros Bros' staff.

He was consequently charged with stealing and two counts of serious assault of a police officer after ultimately being apprehended about 5.30pm yesterday by police on a lifeguard's jet ski, following unsuccessful attempts by lifeguards and water police to retrieve him from the water.

Although Peck was on parole for a separate offence at the time of the alleged incident, he was released on bail (against the wishes of police) by magistrate Joan White, with the proviso that he remain at his residence in the suburb of Labrador, and not return to the restaurant.

According to the ABC, Peck's lawyer, Halley Robertson, explained that "alcohol is an issue" for the man and is "something he needs to address", while the Bulletin notes that Robertson told the court that her client was also volunteer at a children's charity.

Peck has uploaded several tracks under the 2pec moniker, including songs titled Don't Stop Loven Me, Ozi Ozi Ozi Oy Oy Oy and Money, Drugs, Music, Liquor, Slutz N Guns.

He is due to face court again on Thursday 4 May.
