"We need to be bold and set new benchmarks."

With this year’s Adelaide Fringe currently unfolding in the city, the State Government has announced new funding that will likely see the 2018 event expand greatly.

The second largest of its type in the world, Adelaide Fringe has scored $1 million of new funding that will go towards lower artist fees in 2018, which is expected to make the annual event more affordable for artists, audiences and venues.

This will happen via Adelaide Fringe removing inside charges for artists with tickets under $35, while fees for more expensive tickets will be halved.

“Hundreds of Fringe festivals have popped up all over the world in the past few years and for Adelaide Fringe to keep its crown, we need to be bold and set new benchmarks,” Adelaide Fringe CEO and Director Heather Croall said.
