M4sonic spent 2013 going viral

Adelaide DJ and producer Nick Boundy – aka M4sonic – has signed with Sony Music and Ultra Music in the US after a number of viral hits.

The classically-trained musician joins Ultra and a roster than includes Deadmau5, The Bloody Beetroots and Above & Beyond on a multi-album deal.

Perhaps best know for his live launchpad YouTube videos, one of Boundy's beats was also picked up for Ylvis's comedy single The Fox, which blew up and charted around the world.

Last year an APRA representative told theMusic.com.au, “While we cannot comment on the financial details of our members, Australian APRA member Nick Boundy is indeed a co-writer of The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?) by Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis.

“The phenomenal success of the song really speaks to the value of international songwriting collaborations that occur across borders, in this case from the UK to Norway to Australia. The 'viral' nature of this YouTube sensation is now just one of many new revenue streams our writers are now enjoying.”

An inside source had suggested that he was one of the top earners of 2013 thanks to the song.
