“My whole point is that A b*tch is disliked and oppressed because she/he is powerful."

Unveiling a politically charged new single last week, Abbe May’s quest to shine a spotlight on the issues that matter isn’t a mission that Facebook seems to be on board with, with the WA singer calling out the platform for censoring the title of her forthcoming album, Bitchcraft.

As May explained on a censored Facebook post, the title of her third album is “all about reclaiming the term 'B*tch' and not accepting it as an insult”.

“Ah, the irony of having to censor the album title to Bcraft or BC or B-craft on facebook to avoid being blocked from updating your feeds,” May said.

“My whole point is that A b*tch is disliked and oppressed because she/he is powerful. She/he does what she / he feels is necessary without concern for being seen as 'nice' and passive.”

May went on to say she understands why the site needed to filter the word, with many out there “using the term in a hateful fashion”.

The issue follows on from a brilliant and candid tour diary the Are We Flirting? hitmaker wrote for The Music last week in which she called out a punter for aggressive, sexist heckling.

Abbe May takes new single Doomsday Clock around the country this November and December – all the dates of which you can find in theGuide.
