A sound engineer who worked for Florida-bred mainstays A Day To Remember has died after being struck by a sports utility vehicle on a highway in Annapolis, Maryland, following an incident in his own vehicle.

As originally reported by local paper the Capital Gazette, Maryland State Police have confirmed that 43-year-old Jeff Kaplan was struck and killed by a 1999 Ford SUV, driven by 30-year-old Aaron B. Nedd, after Kaplan lost control of his 2013 Subaru and hit the road's median. Kaplan had exited his vehicle and was "standing in the travel portion of the roadway" when the incident occurred, shortly after 2am on Wednesday morning (US time).

Kaplan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nedd, who was reportedly returning home from work, was transported to a nearby hospital in Annapolis for treatment of minor injuries.

Love & Special Sauce. A Day To Remember have not yet made a statement in response to the tragedy.
