Your new role

We are seeking experienced Senior Lawyer to lead our Legal function and oversee Business Affairs across UNIFIED Music Group. Based in Melbourne and reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you’ll play a critical role at the intersection of music, creativity, and commerce.

What would a day in the life look like for you

  • Lead UNIFIED’s Legal and Business Affairs strategy, ensuring alignment with our values and commercial goals.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a Legal & Business Affairs team member and manage relationships with outside counsel where appropriate.

  • Draft, negotiate and manage agreements across artists, labels, publishers, distributors and key partners.

  • Oversee our IP portfolio, including trademarks, licensing, and broader rights management.

  • Advise leadership and stakeholders on legal risks, compliance, and changes in regulation.

  • Manage disputes, litigation and crisis scenarios in collaboration with external legal counsel.

  • Work closely with the CEO on corporate structuring, property matters and key commercial transactions.

  • Lead Business Affairs projects, focusing on process improvement across contracts and royalty workflows.

  • Manage the Employee Share Option Plan (ESOP) and other bonus structures, ensuring legal compliance and delivery in partnership with Head of People & Culture.

We would love for you to have

  • Broad legal experience across commercial law, IP, and regulatory compliance.

  • Demonstrated success leading legal and business affairs in a commercial or creative organisation.

  • Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • A collaborative, solution-oriented approach to working across teams.

  • Experience in music, entertainment or media (preferred).
