Melbourne’s Wild Dog Mountains are carving out their own take on alt-country, mixing jangly indie rock, crunchy guitars, and the kind of twang that feels both ragged and deliberate. Imagine some cross between The Go-Betweens and Magnolia Electric Co. dialed into a pulsing Wurlitzer organ groove. Their singles “Maybe So” and “The Light is Getting Darker” hint at what’s to come, with an EP on the way and a reputation for stirring & energetic live shows.
Joining them is local alt-country folk outfit Remember the Circus, and Duncan Woods Band, led by Newcastle’s Duncan Woods, whose time with The Epicureans (Germany) and SF Wrens (Australia) shaped his unique, jazz-and-funk-laced approach to folk.
