Baron Von Trax, the alias of Melbourne DJ and producer Gidi Segal, is a product of the city’s rich artistic and musical ecosystem. His sound - a distinct fusion of trance and house - channels the euphoria of 90s piano house and the unrelenting energy of hard house, reimagined for contemporary dancefloors.

With a background in classical piano, Segal brings a melodic sensitivity to his productions and DJ sets, crafting sequences that prioritises emotional impact and harmonies alongside a fluency in breakbeats, linear drums and warehouse beats.

It’s a sound where neo-club edits meet remixes and Baron Von Trax’s original productions, that further collide with UK garage basslines, disco flourishes, and soaring trance motifs.

The result is a pastiche of UK and US club tropes reimagined through an Australian lens: playful and dynamic - eschewing the darker tones favoured by many of his contemporaries.

Opting for brightness and euphoria, the artist’s high-tempo sets ultimately blend nostalgia with a forward-thinking edge. Creating immersive experiences, the artist draws from a colourful palette of inspirations, keeping it nostalgic and full of optimism, innovative and familiar as fuck.
