Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!
This week Pollyman, LEATHERMAN and Supermodels are stopping by for a show.
George Carroll Wilson's solo project Pollyman delivers glam rock hooks and old school looks with a sparkling and original blend of rock and roll and pop through the ages. Inspired by such artists as Jeff Buckley and David Bowie, Pollyman flaunts a dazzling and daring sound with exhilarating live performances that leave an indelible mark long after the last song has ended.
LEATHERMAN, a hard rockin’, power poppin’ band of five lunatics on a mission to bust ears, flow tears, steal beer and make a party. Featuring rockers Annabel Brown, Ben Redlich, Shauna Boyle, Jarrod Goon and Jake Laderman, this band exists to exorcise pop demons, slug guitarmonies, howl melodies and churn heavy metal riffs/rhythms. Think The Exploding Hearts, The Shivvers, Thin Lizzy and Judas Priest all wailing on each other in the street - powerful and chaotic rockin’ that ain’t afraid of a little cheese. The recently released debut LP “Turn You On” features a lineup of songs about partying, freaking out, true crime, taking the piss out of footy players, lust and heartbreak. A band that emphasizes the good time and encourages the listener to remember the reason why we do it all in the first place - to have fun and forget the troubles of your day.
"Part punk, part new wave, a little bit of country, plenty of pop, lots of rock n roll, but never out of fashion". Melbourne power pop group Supermodels draw on late-70s punk, 60s pop and beat groups and classic Americana genres to create a rock and roll sound that owes a debt to Big Star, Elvis Costello, The Cars and Buzzcocks, yet is decidedly its own bag of teenage kicks.
Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat.
Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.
