Kick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town!
This week Kosmetika, Favoured State and The Antics are stopping by for a show. Kosmetika is an eccentric art pop collective from Naarm who blend together the elements of Krautrock, New Wave, Punk and Shoegaze. Their third album 'Luxury' (2024) has received critical acclaim with the Rolling Stone magazine praising their ''captivating melodies and introspective lyrics''. With notable support from Henry Rollins on his KCRW show, Kosmetika is rapidly gaining recognition for their unique sound from all over the world.Favoured State is a post-punk band out of Melbourne forging a sonic and visual identity that’s both emotionally raw and artistically refined. Their work lives in the tension between chaos and control — drawing from the tactile, imperfect nature of human experience while resisting the increasingly rigid expectations of modern creativity. The group began in 2023, cutting their teeth on the Melbourne pub circuit, before recording and releasing their debut EP “It’s A Mess” at the beginning of 2024. This was closely followed by the band’s tour supporting Berlin-based rock band “SUGAR”, taking them to venues across Victoria. The band started as James’s creative musical outlet, with a passion for contemporary post-punk and angular, jagged music in the vein of Shame, Goggs, Black Midi, and Protomartyr. Since then, they have become a creative unit together, proving themselves time and time again as an electric live act of frenetic and energetic post-punk. The band are now preparing to release their sophomore EP “Real Enough”— a ferocious five-track statement that cuts through digital fog, existential fatigue, and systemic rot with relentless post-punk urgency.Operating on stolen Wurundjeri land, The Antics are a band of hungry passionate punk rock freaks who carry the nostalgia of the sounds of the Aussie punk scene from yesteryear, mixed with the ever evolving sounds of the scene today.
