PIWAKA Sunday headline show at THE CATFISH
SUNDAY 14 JUNE 2026 | 6:30PM
What?
Piwaka is an Aotearoa-born, Naarm-based indie-folk artist.
Taking his name from a New Zealand-native bird, Piwaka is known for his fingerpicked nylon-string guitar, husky vocals, alternate tunings, and thoughtful songwriting. This show will officially launch his debut album, Slow, released on streaming services on 17 May.
Years in the making, Slow is the crystallisation of Piwaka’s world-building. Drawing on influences such as Radiohead, José González, and Bibio, the album marks a significant evolution in Piwaka’s sound, with expansive, orchestral arrangements.
Piwaka will be joined by a 7-piece ensemble for this very special one-off performance.
Romaan is an Ethiopian-born, Australian-raised artist blending folk-pop, chamber pop, and blues through intimate storytelling on mental health, relationships, and lived experience.
Dark atmospheric folk with a rare emotional depth. Eugene Fox crafts songs that feel both intimate and otherworldly. A uniquely bittersweet voice in Australian music.
