Our world is no longer physical. So why should our music be? Obscura Electronica blurs the lines between acoustic and electronic – between physical and virtual sound worlds. Our captivating soloist will stand before the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra to play her violin – an instrument that also becomes a kick drum, or a snare, through electronic treatment.
Hannah Solveij has the freedom to use her musical voice however she likes, because Loop Guts is her concerto. She co-composed it with Australia’s Gordon Hamilton, and it premiered digitally in Germany. We won’t reveal where this music will take you, but we can say Hannah is critically acclaimed for breaking convention. So if you’re expecting to hear electronic rhythms against a soaring orchestral backdrop, you won’t be far off.
Conductor Sam Weller will lead you through this experimental music in the Odeon.
