Kenyan-born and raised in Sydney’s Inner West, Meklit is a well-known voice in Australia’s alt-R&B, neo-soul, and jazz scenes. With Ethiopian heritage and a background as a trombone player, she’s shaped a broad and eclectic palette of musical influences — bringing a rich and distinctive blend of genres and effortless musicality to the stage.
She’s shared the stage with some of Australia’s biggest names, including Sampa the Great, Ruel, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and is a sought-after backing vocalist, having worked with the likes of Horrorshow, Donny Benét, Maina Doe, Milan Ring and Ngaiire. Her captivating live performances and magnetic presence have lit up major festivals and venues across the country and internationally.
