She’s brilliant. Overworked. Constantly in motion.
A mother of eight, caregiver, touring pianist — and still, somehow, a composer of music that endures.
That woman was Clara Schumann.
And in Notes from an Extraordinary Life, she’s finally given a voice that speaks to us now.
This new concert experience from Mirabilis Collective brings Clara’s story into the present day through her own music and a fictionalised 2025 journal — raw, honest, and deeply relevant. It’s a story about women’s ambition, care, creativity, and survival — told through intimate chamber music, stunning vocals, and modern narration.
The concert features a superb ensemble of WA women musicians, including 15-year-old violin sensation Ellie Malonzo and acclaimed soprano Lucinda Nicholls. Opera Australia star Annie Aitken — fresh from lead roles in Guys and Dolls and Candide — narrates Clara’s imagined voice. The result is an emotional, unforgettable night of music and storytelling.
