As part of Brisbane Open House, Roma Street Parkland is offering a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes and explore the systems and sustainability practices that keep this iconic inner-city green space thriving.
The experience begins with a guided walk through the vibrant Spectacle Garden at Colin Campbell Place, where volunteers will share insights into seasonal planting and the design principles that shape the park’s horticultural displays. From there, guests are encouraged to also book a ticket to the Behind the Scenes Tour which give guests access into the restricted areas not usually open to the public, including the Parkland’s operations compound, nursey zone and the in-house composting site.
Tours run on Friday 19 July and Saturday 20 July, with the volunteer-led garden tour from 10:00am to 11:30am, followed by the behind-the-scenes tour from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
The meeting point is at The Hub. The tours are free, but bookings are essential. Please bring a hat, enclosed shoes, sunscreen, and a water bottle. Note that there is limited accessibility for people with disability due to terrain and facilities.
