VIDEO PREMIERE: Jessie-May Kitchen – ‘Star Child’

The latest music video from Central Coast artist Jessie-May Kitchen is fun and quirky while delivering an inspirational message.

The new single was written as a love letter to the “Cosmic Forces of the Universe”, capturing “the confusion in the meaning of human experience, feelings of isolation towards the physical plane and comfort of knowing that one day it will all make sense”.

“Every time I start to lose hope or stray from the path, the stars are always there to remind me of who I am and encourage me to never give up,” Kitchen told The Music.

“The story told within the Star Child music video is that I am a lonely, lost astronaut. I find my place travelling among the stars when I meet two alien friends, who help me ascend to a higher state of consciousness by sharing their wisdom through alien tech, whilst I share mine through music.

Star Child is the first time Kitchen has collaborated with others on a music video.

“As a control freak, letting go of some production responsibilities was hard, but totally worth it artistically,” she said. 

“The video wouldn’t have been as colourful as it turned out to be without the people that helped me along the way.

“You learn who the realest friends are, when you can shoot them a random text and they commit to dancing around in a rubber, alien mask and silver, latex onesie just for you.”
