SINGLE PREMIERE: Jack Bratt - 'The Outsider'

"We all have our own struggles.”

More Jack Bratt Jack Bratt

The latest indie-rock gem from Aussie singer-songwriter Jack Bratt is one for those who feel like The Outsider.

The new song explores self-identity and perception, and does so with some catchy hooks.

“It’s about being left of centre, about not fitting in, it’s about perception,” Bratt told The Music.

“You may have an idea about how others view you, but that’s not necessarily who you are. It’s easy to think somebody might be doing really well, but that could just be a front, while they’re dealing with a lot of problems.

“I think what I’ve learned from being in lockdown and having conversations with friends, is that nobody is really okay; we all have our own struggles.”

Bratt was scheduled to head to New York in June for a three-month artist residency after taking out the Grant McLennan Fellowship, but the COVID pandemic meant he was unable to go.

Despite this, he’s already working on his debut album, which is slated for release in early 2021.
