SINGLE PREMIERE: Athena Joy - 'Just Like You'

Gold Coast singer-songwriter Athena Joy is back hitting us in the feels with her latest single and we here at theMusic.com.au are rapt to bring you the premiere. 

"It's probably the most raw I've been in a song ever," Joy told The Music about the single, Just Like You. 

The indie-pop artist's vocals shine over crisp production, lyrically dealing some dark subject matter before ultimately finding the light at the end of the tunnel. 

"At that time of my life of writing it I felt completely defeated," she said. 

"I didn't know if was ever going to be able to do music again, I was mad at myself and I was really mad at the world. 

"I've always been a big believer in things happening for a reason and this song was kind of my weird way of reminding me of that - like, yep things suck right now but it's because you're getting stronger. You're going to take these things that have happened to you and turn them into strength."
