Single Focus: DEEDS

Answered by: Beau Lindsay — vocals/guitar

Single title? Dream Song

What's the song about? Surviving in a post-apocalyptic world where the only other living person doesn't want to be be with you.

How long did it take to write/record? The song was written after a dream that I had so it didn't take long. Initially it was an acoustic track but when Steele dusted off his double bass we decided to flesh it out.

Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release? This is our first single as DEEDS that features on our upcoming EP Exile.

What was inspiring you during the song's writing and recording? The subject matter is pretty dark so we wanted to make sure the track was sparse and lush. It helps back up the lyrical content.

We'll like this song if we like... I guess The National and maybe Jeff Buckley. Everyone loves a solid depressing number to help you sleep at night.

Do you play it differently live? Only slightly. Our bass player Steele doesn't use his bowed bass on stage so some of those drone notes we leave out.

When and where is your launch/next gig? BLEACH* on 19 March. We're playing the Tooloona Street Stage from 7pm with some other great local artists. Seriously looking forward to it!
