Single title? What's Riding
What's the song about? It's a super simple song about taking a bit of gamble and going head first into something new and exciting.
How long did it take to write/record? It's one of the quickest I've written, but took a little bit of time to produce to get the thumping, driving roots feel with a slight hip-hop quality that I was after.
Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release?: It's being released as a single on April 1.
What was inspiring you during the song's writing and recording?: It was a point in my life when I had a few decisions to make and writing this song acted as a reminder to not think on things too much and just take chances sometimes.
We'll like this song if we like... Upbeat, grooving blues/roots with an edge. Maybe similar to Ash Grunwald, John Butler, The Black Keys, Kim Churchill etc.
Do you play it differently live? Yeah a little bit. I have a stompbox that I hammer the hell out of live when I'm solo, and I have a band joining me for the launch.
When and where is your launch/next gig?: Having a launch party at Babushka in Leederville on Saturday April 2 and will have Matt Cal and Turin Robinson supporting. Those guys are killer!
