Channelling the great garage rock revival of the 2000s with a modern twist are New York City’s Slow Fiction, who ahead of the release of their debut, self-titled EP are premiering the record’s focus track, Jericho, on Pilerats today!
An anthemic, rollicking jaunt, Jericho sees big guitar riffs alongside a commanding rhythm section and lead vocalist Julia Vassallo’s powerful, distinctive vocals drawing comparison to the likes of Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries) and Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs).
On their new EP, Vassalo says "These songs are a culmination of the past two years of our group’s coalescence. We’ve felt a need to explain ourselves in a larger context, and this is our first chance to do it. There are characters throughout the EP that every person has either related to, loved, or hated at some point in their lives. I’ve always loved the quote that 'good art should make you laugh and cry' but what about the feeling when you’re crying and laughing at the same time?"
