The emerging Newcastle name completely switches up the soothing original, adding dark crashes of percussion to the soft vocals..
Released as the opening single of her gorgeous self-titled EP last year, Rise saw quickly-rising Melbourne singer-songwriter Woodes deliver with a beautifully-pieced single that dazzled with brilliant vocal work and a snapping, tone-matching instrumental. Today we premiere an equally impressive remix of the single, with Litche - one-half of Australian duo Luunes - add a dark, glitchy-like touch to the single's brooding feel. The remix opens with Woodes' softly-sung vocals, which is joined a few moments later by a stripped-back percussion line and gradually-building melodies. For the song's chorus, Litche craftily switches out Woodes' vocals in favour of a more chopped-up vocal, which howls above a dark, glitchy instrumental, crunching with rounds of echoing percussion. "Elle (Woodes) reached out to me just after the release of her debut EP asking me if I’d like to do a remix of her third single Rise." says Litche on the remix's birth. "We connected a few months earlier over the Internet, out of appreciation for each other’s music. I was stoked that I was asked to do the remix because I was a big fan of her music and Rise was easily my favourite song from the EP.” Listen to the remix below.
