Where’s The Beef.

Legends Of Motorsport play Kirra Beach Hotel on Friday and the Gabba Hotel on Saturday.

If you’ve a hankering for some down and dirty rock sounds, go no further than Legends Of Motorsport. It’s not surprising they rock really, considering frontman Ken Worthy’s musical background.

“I was playing in John Farnham’s band,” he muses of the band’s formation. “It’s all true. It was a pretty similar experience to playing guitar in Legends Of Motorsport. You have to try not to steal the show from John. You don’t want to cross him, you know. He’s a great guy, but if you get on his wrong side… He’ll have you for breakfast.”

Any chance of a guest appearance at a Legends gig.

He’s pretty busy at the moment, but we might catch up with him somewhere along the way.”

The band’s second disc Beef With Cheese, finds them heading to sunny Vegas for the first time.

“This will be the first time Legends have played up in Brisbane. We’ve played with a lot of Brisbane bands down in Melbourne before, so it will be nice to get up there. We were supposed to play with Giants Of Science down here, but they didn’t make it, so it didn’t quite happen. The show’s pretty much like going to see some motor racing, actually. Lots of dagwood dogs, loud noise, excitement. There’s probably more chance of being killed or injured at a legends gig. Gear breakages have been becoming a bit of a problem.”

When was Beef With Cheese all put together.

“The first disc was pretty much done by ourselves, about two years ago. Last year we went up to Sydney to record the Beef, and High Beam are doing that with us. It’s just come back in the last couple of weeks. It would have been July last year, but we wanted to get it all done and then find someone that wanted to put it out. That seems to work better than trying to get money out of labels beforehand.”

You’re all looking pretty sexy on the disc’s cover…

“It took a whole team of make up and retouching experts a long time to come up with that cover, so we’re pretty happy with it.”
