Hot Spot: Royal Stacks

470 Collins St, Melbourne

From the man behind Easey's, Grand Trailer Park Taverna and Truck Stop Deluxe, Royal Stacks opened their doors this week.

They're serving up eight kinds of American-style burgers — from the single stack (an all Australian pasture-fed beef patty, tomato, butter lettuce, American cheddar, special burger sauce and pickles), to the Prince Harry (beef patty, butter lettuce, American cheddar, Swiss cheese and horseradish, shallot and gherkin mayo sauce — the melted cheese and tasty mayo combo is a dream), Bacon Bacon (two beef patties, double bacon, American cheddar, caramelised onions, American mustard, tomato sauce and pickles), and The King (beef patty, tomato, butter lettuce, mac'n'cheese croquette, American mustard and special burger sauce). The less intense of the lot actually feel fairly light and non-greasy, by the way, when compared to other American-style burger joints in Melbourne.

Royal Stacks have also collaborated with 7 Apples to bring us American-inspired frozen custard. It looks like creamy gelato, feels like a thicker soft serve, and tastes amazing. They have flavours like chocolate, salted caramel, cheesecake, Kinder Surprise and Nutella.
