Fraser A. Gorman SXSW Diary: Part Three

Tins, gigs and the need to spew. Onya Fraser!

Tuesday was a day off so we just hung around the house and had a few tins. Classic Austin times.

Wednesday.
Gig day.

It was kind of funny to get the reality check that when you come to SXSW as a performer you actually have to play gigs and work hard, not just hang around and drink beer and tell jokes... so here we go.

It was comforting to step on to my first stage in Austin knowing that fellow Melbourne (via Perth) legend Peter Bibby was playing after me. A bit of Australian comradery was great for morale and a few laughs. The sound guy, Barry was my new best friend in Austin and he said he's going to teach me how to play Ice Hockey.

The second gig was at a little bar called Stephen F's. It was a great little crammed gig. The yanks found my Australian accent to be very amusing and they were easy to impress. All you have to say is "Vegemite" and "Good Onya" and Austin is yours.

I met up with Eric from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Woody McDonald and we tore the place apart. We got BBQ and the next day I wanted to spew everywhere.
