Face The Music: Simon Winkler

"The excitement of receiving CDs and tickets is something that has never left!"

Position: Triple R FM Music Coordinator

How did you first become involved in the music business? First became involved as a CD reviewer and freelance writer for street press publications in Sydney after finishing high school; the excitement of receiving CDs and tickets is something that has never left!

What's your area of expertise and what experience do you have? My expertise revolves around radio, broadcasting, and music media in general. I've been a producer and presenter for SBS Radio and Triple R FM, and editor and writer for websites such as THUMP.

What topics will you be mostly talking about at Face The Music? I'll be on a panel looking at grant writing and funding opportunities for musicians and music businesses.

What do you hope to personally take away from Face The Music? Face The Music always offers incredible inspiration and education, a look at what's happening across the diverse music industry, and a chance to envisage where it's heading next.

What's one question about the music industry you'd love to have the answer to? One question — and discussion — I'd love to see a much greater focus on is how to make the music industry more inclusive, allowing for greater diversity and representation in all respects.
