Following our exclusive preview of Ben Salter's hotly anticipated sophomore studio full-length, The Stars My Destination, last week, theMusic.com.au is proud to present an exclusive premiere of the Queensland-bred troubadour's newest work ahead of its release through Universal/ABC Music this Friday.
The album is Salter's first full-length since his acclaimed 2011 solo debut, The Cat, with the accomplished musician crafting 11 new tracks in the intervening years alongside staying eye-wateringly busy with gigs everywhere from festival stages to backyard decks, with the final result standing as testament to Salter's philosophy as a performer and composer.
"The thing I love about doing music is I can do whatever I want — anything," Salter said in a statement. "The possibilities are almost completely limitless, so I don't know why anyone would stick to one thing. I certainly can't. I like having a go at a bit of everything … I like to listen to an album and it to be a bit of a journey.
"I love what I do, I love making music, so I just try and do it as much as I can."
Salter will tour in support of The Stars My Destination with a live band for a sojourn, proudly presented by The Music, through Toowoomba (16 July), Brisbane (17 July), Sydney (24 July), Canberra (25 July, solo) and Melbourne (31 July) before wrapping up in Hobart, on Saturday, 1 August.
