"The Triffids' Wide Open Road perfectly captures the bigness and sparseness of Australia not only through its lyrics but also its sound."

What five words spring to mind when you hear "Oz rock'n'roll"? Four letters: AC/DC.

Why do you think some Aussie rock bands find more success overseas than on home turf? There are simply more people to play to. Art is regarded very highly in Europe unlike here where there is more focus on sport plus they seem to be curious about this island at the bottom of the world.

What's your favourite Beast release and why? The Spoils compilation of the second and third albums. It allowed us to reach an audience in Europe when we didn't have a release there.

What to you is the greatest Oz rock song and why? I'm not sure if it's really "rock" but The Triffids' Wide Open Road perfectly captures the bigness and sparseness of Australia not only through its lyrics but also its sound.

What are you most looking forward to about Beast Feast? Seeing my friend Seb and the other guys from Beast. We've been over there five times and become quite close. Now our kids know each other. It's more than a label. It's a family.

Beast Feast is on at The Tote on 19 & 20 Feb.
