Australian Music Week Speaker Profile: Lachlan Mitchell

"I hung around AIR Studios for a few months until they gave me a job."

Position: Producer, co-owner - Jungle and Attic Studios

How did you first become involved in the music business? In 1991 I did a course at AFTRS, then flew over to London. I hung around AIR Studios for a few months until they gave me a job.

What's your area of expertise and what experience do you have? I have been recording and producing music for 23 years. Punk, pop, metal, country, orchestral, electronic, indie, folk, jazz, film scores, advertisementsyou name it.

What topics will you be mostly talking about at Australian Music Week? Production for music recordings: why producers are important, history of music production, what not to do, where to start.

What do you hope to personally take away from Australian Music Week? Ideas, inspiration, robust debate, and an Australian Music Week showbag.

What's one question about the music industry you'd love to have the answer to? How can we get people to regularly buy Australian music, and go to shows by local bands?
