"I believe I learned how to write short songs, that capture a feeling rather than tell a story."

Album title? Lucky Stars

Where did the title of your new album come from? It's named after the first single. A song about waking up in a petrol station.

How many releases do you have now? Ten main releases. One Blam Blam Blam album, two Front Lawn, four Mutton Birds, and now three solo albums.

How long did it take to write/record? This one represents about five years of writing and six months recording.

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? I believe I learned how to write short songs, that capture a feeling rather than tell a story. Also there's more joy and optimism in this one than in any of my previous releases.

What's your favourite song on it? My favourite song changes every day, but today it's 'For Your Touch'.

Will you do anything differently next time? I don't really plan albums. I just let the songs dictate. I'd like there to be a shorter gap before the next one!

When and where is your launch/next gig? VIC: 14 Nov, Bakehouse Studios.

NSW: 12 Nov, Petersham Bowling Club; 13 Nov, Clarendon Guest House, Katoomba.
