"It’s a bit of a different sound for us, actually – it’s got more of a grunge edge to it than our other stuff and lyrically, it’s pulling on those same darker undertones that our songs have, but catering towards a grungier style on punk."

"I'm sitting here and waiting for the mix to come back as we speak!” Litten says excitedly. The mix in question relates to the first single from the band's upcoming debut EP, which Litten reveals should be released sometime in March. It has been quite a ride for the duo of Litten and Bailey Lions, who are close friends. “We've been friends for a few years now,” she says. “We played in another band for a while but we weren't really doing anything or going anywhere and we kind of just got a little bit over it. I don't even know how to describe the stuff we played in our old band. It was kind of like punk rockabilly but it wasn't working – there was just too much conflict in the band and I think Bailey and I are pretty influenced by what we listen to. Bailey used to play in a pretty heavy punk band called At Fault who were around ages ago, and I was more into the indie, softer side of punk things, so we just threw stuff at each other and made things work as best we could.”

The duo is tight, and since their inception in 2012, they've been happy as a two-piece. Naturally, one would think that the decision-making process when creating musical material could be quite difficult, but Litten waves it off. “Bailey and I are close friends so we have no issue being totally brutal with each other,” she chuckles. “Like, Bailey might write a riff and I'll say something like, 'Nah, it's too generic', or 'It sounds too much like this song', or whatever, and I might throw some lyrics at Bailey and get completely shut down, so a lot goes down when we're putting the songs together and we just try to be honest and compromise when we can.”

The single to be launched on Thursday, titled The Same Way, is a tune that, Litten reveals, is something that was conjured up almost accidentally, and was not supposed to be on the record. “I wrote some lyrics that just sort of came to me about a week before we went into the studio, and Bailey managed to come up with this riff that just fit perfectly with what I was working with, so that song ended up being the single on the EP... It's a bit of a different sound for us, actually – it's got more of a grunge edge to it than our other stuff and lyrically, it's pulling on those same darker undertones that our songs have, but catering towards a grungier style on punk. It came together very last minute, but I think it's one of the strongest songs we've got on there.”

The duo recently told their Facebook fans that they have some 'big things' coming up, but Litten has her lips sealed. “I can't announce any of our plans for the year, but we've got some exciting things happening and we'll definitely be keeping everyone updated as best we can!”
