Recent trends have seen attitudes towards alcohol consumption shift greatly in the past decade. But how does that translate to Australia’s bustling live music scene, where drinking has historically been ingrained in the culture?
I mean at this point it goes without saying - FUCK CANCER. Lochlan Watt, who hosts triple j's metal show on Tuesday nights, one half of metal band R U N and lately he's been helping curate music for DARK MOFO - has been given SHIT NEWS that he is likely to have to go back into surgery and more rehabilitation very soon. He has previously been through a bout of cancer a few years ago & miraculously smashed it - but it's made a comeback. We wish Loch all the love & hope he smashes this once again.

Heavy house bangers for your mid-week slump.. Tina Says is definitely no stranger to the Pilerats office (seriously, she works here), so we are definitely stoked to be writing about her triumphant new remix of Alison Wonderland’s album opener Run. While a whole heap of remixes have dropped since Alison released the stems to the single a week or so ago, this remix really brings the original up the notch, ditching Alison’s bouncy, warped synth and replacing it with a heavy, bass-house vibe and chopped up vocals. It's dark and dirty, with the warm, industrial feeling described as “being fired out of a cannon into an old power-station and then wetting your pants” and honestly, we can’t help but agree. Definitely an upcoming female producer worth keeping your eye on, have a listen to the tune in full below and be sure to cop that free download HERE. Follow Tina Says: Facebook / Twitter

San Cisco's new clip is a psychedelic dream run wild.. The San Cisco express is picking up steam ahead of what no doubt be a very busy summer for the WA indie-pop outfit. Following the release of their first single in a fair while - Run, said song now has a Matt Sav-directed video clip. You may remember Sav from our own HAMJAM's recent beach-bound video clip for Love, and Run contains more of the director's signature bright, colourful, retro styilngs, and heaps of lycra. After premiering with TheMusic.com.au this morning, you can watch it below, and check their remaining Run tour dates after that: RUN TOUR DATES: THU 20 NOV | FOWLERS, ADELAIDE SA (ALL AGES) FRI 21 NOV | THE ZOO, BRISBANE QLD (18+) SAT 22 NOV | ALHAMBRA LOUNGE, BRISBANE QLD (U18 MATINEE) SUN 23 NOV | THE NORTHERN, BYRON BAY NSW (18+) THU 27 NOV | THE METRO THEATRE, SYDNEY NSW (ALL AGES) FRI 28 NOV | THE SMALL BALLROOM, NEWCASTLE NSW (18+) SAT 29 NOV | CORNER HOTEL, MELBOURNE VIC (18+) SUN 30 NOV | CORNER HOTEL, MELBOUR
The WA indie-pop kids are back.. Following a couple of years galavanting around the globe touring their smashing self-titled debut record, playing iconic festivals such as Lollapalooza and Reading, along with headline sellout shows in LA, NY, London and Tokyo, San Cisco are finally back in the motherland. New single Run is the first taste of their upcoming second album, due for release early next year. Handclaps and throbbing bass abound, but Run already feels like the group has matured a little - not toooo much - but just enough to suggest that we may be a little surprised by their sophomore effort.
