More George Michael More George Michael

There's not long to go now until the release of Last Christmas - the new Christmas movie that's based around and inspired by the songs of George Michael and Wham!

Wham!'s Andrew Ridgeley stopped by The Graham Norton Show over the weekend to promote his new book, George & Me, and shared more information about the film, which is due for release in Australia on 7 December.

"[It's a] big feature film. Directed by Paul Feig, written by Emma Thompson, starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding," said Ridgeley.

"I went on set a couple of times and was fortunately enough to be invited. I have a little cameo too - non speaking, of course," he laughed.

"It's a movie that will showcase the great songwriting talent of my old chum."

Thompson, who wrote the film's script along with Bryony Kimmings (who was just in Australia for her show I’m A Phoenix, Bitch), has recently shared the inspiration for the story.

"The wisdom and emotional scope of George’s lyrics have always amazed me. So many feel like they were written for the movie," she said.

"After I met George and experienced his compassion and understanding up close, I realised that in fact the movie was written for those lyrics."

The film features some of Michael's best-known hits and deeper cuts, as well as new track This Is How (We Want You To Get High).

Last Christmas is out next month, check out the official trailer above.
