Prepare to feel mighty uncomfortable.

Sydney indie-rocker Ross James Tipper — aka Pan-Pacific Grand Prix, also of Little Bastard, Achoo! Bless You and more — has unveiled the sincerely discomforting video for his excellent downcast jam Everything Is Awful, premiering today on theMusic.com.au.

Recorded in the same Newtown house in which the track itself was laid down, the clip was directed by Aimée-Lee Curran (Bells Will Ring, The Laurels) and features a parade of wildly off-kilter scenarios, from a child rolling a cigarette and Tipper digging into a bowl of… sardines and… guacamole? (is that what that it is?…) to another kid getting inked in an attic, a woman getting frisky with a stuffed bear in a bathtub and a creepy paper-bag party.

We… can't look away, honestly.

It's a most fitting accompaniment to the song's unhurried amble, easy vibes and innate sense of resigned fuck-it-all-ism, the tune being imbued with tinges of alt-country and garage-rock for that element of added nihilism despite the odd fleck of optimism — and Tipper's inescapable charm — peering through the melancholy veneer.

The clip features a sizable cast bringing the surreal situations to life, including "a host of faces from your favourite local bands, bars and assorted establishments", Tipper said.

He'll be celebrating the video's arrival with his inaugural headline show with this project, hitting the Botany View Hotel on 14 October, with support from 100 and Big Time.
