PREMIERE: Dex - Up All Night

Ascendant Melburnian hip hop artist Dex — 17-year-old Dexter Cairns to his mum — mightn't be old enough to legally drink yet, but he's nonetheless already establishing himself as a mature, thoughtful muso with quirky,  memorable cuts such as Old Bar from earlier this year, an ode to the small NSW town of the same name.

Proving that he's far from a one-trick pony, though, Dex is back with a fresh cut and video, Up All Night, the second single to be taken from eagerly awaited EP 16 (after recent release Crazy, featuring Sam Edwards), and we at theMusic.com.au feel privileged indeed to have been invited to premiere this special track, produced by Dom Cork.

"Up All Night is about being true to yourself and chasing your dreams, no matter what," Dex told theMusic.com.au. "More directly for me, it's about being hungry, staying up all night and doing what I love doing most — creating songs and writing."

As you can see and hear in the clip (shot and directed by Hoodwolf), his penchant for musical penmanship shines through with ease; make no mistake, Dex is poised to become an essential fixture of our nation's burgeoning, diverse hip hop scene — get on board before you're left to catch up with everyone else.
