SAN CISCO MELBOURNE SHOW SELLS OUT
There’s nothing “awkward” about indie pop outfit San Cisco’s career at the moment, with the popular group already selling out the Melbourne show of their Rocket Ship Tour this May.
2011 was a mega year for the group, with their sophomore album Awkward reaching gold status and the title track coming in at number seven on triple J’s Hottest 100 Countdown.
A second gig in Melbourne has been added to the list of shows around the country, which will also see them hit the stage on the Groovin The Moo tour.

EXCLUSIVE: THE GETAWAY PLAN GROOVIN SIDESHOWS
Aussie rockers The Getaway Plan have announced three exclusive sideshows to coincide with their appearance on the Groovin The Moo Festival tour this May.
The announcement follows the release of the single Move Along from their second album Requiem. The band has had an incredible year since reforming in late 2010, including a recent set at the Big Day Out.
The guys will be joined on stage by Sydney band New Empire. More support acts are expected to be announced soon.

ROKY ERICKSON SUPPORT ACTS ANNOUNCED
Loose punk band The UV Race and psychedelic rockers The Treatment have been announced as support acts for legendary musician Rocky Erickson on his upcoming tour of Australia.
Erickson is out here for the Adelaide Festival and the Golden Plains Festival, bringing years of experience and a unique rock n roll style that heavily impacted the San Fransisco music scene in the 1960s.
The tour is apart of a recent resurface to the music industry by Erickson, who had well-known struggles with drugs and mental illness. After an almost twenty year absence, Erickson returned with some appearances at major festivals such as Coachella, as well as a brand new album in 2010 called True Love Cast Out All Evil.
The UV Race will join Erickson on stage at the Corner Hotel, Melbourne on March 13, with The Treatment supporting on March 14 at the Factory Theatre, Sydney.

UNEARTH SIDEWAVE SHOWS
Modern metal maestros Unearth will continue their musical destruction in two announced Sidewave shows on the back of the Soundwave Festival this February.
The band will be supported by three other Soundwave metal marvels, In This Moment, Kittie and Heaven Shall Burn, all bringing their individual mix of alternative, hardcore and death metal to the stage.
Unearth are one of the major drawcards on the Soundwave billing after the release of their latest album, “Darkness In Light”. The album is considered their most riveting yet and cemented their stance as one of metal’s forefront bands.

BEN SOLLEE SIDESHOWS
US soul folk singer Ben Sollee is bringing his genre-hopping sound and his “like a rockstar” cello playing to Australia this March.
Sollee will be playing a string of shows in Sydney and Melbourne, with his self-described mix of classically influenced folk with leanings of R&B and soul.
Having released his latest album Inclusions in 2011. Sollee is considered one of the most talented acoustic artists today and is sure to captivate his audience with his unique performances.

UNDEROATH, DREAM ON DREAMER SIDEWAVES
Underoath have evolved and thrived during a decade-long progression, and their latest album Ø (Disambiguation) continues their artistic rebirth, surpassing their previous work in compelling, ambitious heavy music.
Already in town for Soundwave, they’ll be playing a couple of sideshows. They’ll be joined by Australian success story, Dream On, Dreamer who signed to influential US powerhouse Rise Records and released a stellar debut record with Heartbound.
The bands will play at Melbourne’s The Hi-Fi on Monday 27 February and Sydney’s The Factory Theatre on Thursday 1 March.
APHEX TWIN LIVE SIDESHOWS
Aphex Twin, the mysterious ambient mastermind behind Windowlicker and countless other tunes, is playing two extremely special and rare sideshows as part of the Future Music Festival tour.
Not seen on Australian shores since 2004 and known to shun the spotlight, the long awaited reappearance of his live show has been highly anticipated and is bound to thrill fans. One of the most influential electronic artists in the history of contemporary dance music, Aphex Twin aka Richard David James has been twisting minds since his debut EP Analogue Bubblebath back in 1991. Covering terrain from ambient to acid, techno and noise, he’ll be supported by Mark Pritchard for these two special dates.
Witness this special performance on Friday 2 March at Enmore Theatre in Sydney (tickets via Ticketek) and Tuesday 6 at The Palace Theatre in Melbourne (tickets through Ticketmaster).
PIETA BROWN SIDESHOWS
Hailed as a modern American troubadour, Pieta Brown’s songs are saturated in blues and folk that speak beyond her years. With a bit of hipster swagger, she performs with unmistakable style and creates songs with mesmerising melodies.
Her recent record was made in Nashville featuring none other than Mark Knopfler on the blues stomper So Many Miles. Already coming to town for the Port Fairy Folk Festival, she’ll now be performing sideshows with The Sawdust Boys as backing band and Australian Lucie Thorne opening proceedings.
Check her out on Tuesday 13 March at Bella Union in Melbourne, Thursday 15 at Camelot Lounge in Sydney, Friday 16 at The Polish Club in Canberra and Saturday 17 at Star Court Theatre in Lismore.
DIE ANTWOORD SIDESHOWS
No strangers to controversy, Die Antwoord will be returning to Australia with their crazy antics and Zef charm. Ninja, Yo Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi Tek will all be in town for the Future Music Festival national tour, and have now announced some special sideshows too.
A blistering trio of rap-ravers that get the party started, they’re the band behind songs like Beat Boy, Rich Bitch and Enter The Ninja. Having recently started their own record label, they’ve got a new album Ten$ion out in February, and they’re bound to play some brand new tracks when they hit the stages in Australia.
Fans can check out the band in headline shows on Wednesday 7 March at The Prince Bandroom in Melbourne and Friday 9 at Enmore Theatre in Sydney.

International folk-blues master of songcraft, Eric Bibb is returning to his Australian fans.
Performing a deftly accomplished, soulful, gospel infused folk-blues, Bibb melds traditional rootsy American styles with a subtle contemporary sensibility. In duo mode for these shows, Bibb will be accompanied by beautiful Swedish guitarist Staffan Astner. CLUB DATES FOR KRYSTLE WARREN
UK soul singer Krystle Warren will be performing four non-festival headline dates while touring Australia in March.
It’s less than three years since her TV appearance on Jools Holland’s Later made her a critical darling in the UK and Warren returns to Australia for her second round of gigs in under twelve months.
Warren was most recently here as part of the Nick Drake tribute, Way To Blue with Scritti Politti singer Green Gartside.
This time around, Warren is an in-demand folk and roots festival guest as well as locking in selected dates with Eric Bibb.
Warren’s headline sideshows include: Toff In Town, Melbourne on Tuesday 13 March; the Vanguard, Sydney on Friday 23 March; the Basement, Sydney on Tuesday 27 March and Street Theatre, Canberra on Wednesday 28 March.
A ROCKET TO THE MOON SIDEWAVES
A Rocket To The Moon’s debut record On Your Side showcased their versatility from heartfelt piano ballads to dancefloor anthems with hooks aplenty. Already coming to town for Soundwave, they’ve just announced a couple of sideshows for fans who can’t get enough.
They’ll be joined by the mammoth pop sound of The Ready Set, Arizona’s pop rock band The Summer Set and The Dangerous Summer, who’ve crafted a throwback tot eh days when music was charged with hope and sincerity.

ATTACK! ATTACK! SIDEWAVES
Hailed as the British flag bearers for the post hardcore movement, Attack! Attack! (pictured) are the latest act blowing away audiences around the world, and they’re set to continue their rapid rise on the back of their sophomore album The Latest Fashion.
Already in town for Soundwave, they’ll be performing sideshows with a few bands in tow. Las Vegas’ The Cab are on a wild ride since the release of their sophomore album Symphony Soldier and masters of the art of story telling River City Extension embody passion in their unique take on indie folk, and both will join Attack! Attack! in shows.

COBRA STARSHIP, FOREVER THE SICKEST KIDS, THESE KIDS WEAR CROWNS, KILL HANNAH SIDEWAVES
The always popular Cobra Starship will be bringing their fun dance pop punk tunes to a couple of sidewaves, with their fourth album Night Shades in tow.
Already in town for Soundwave, the band will return to Sydney and Melbourne with up-tempo pop punk band Forever The Sickest Kids, platinum selling Jumpstart hitmakers These Kids Wear Crowns and the beautiful, dark and heartfelt reflections of newbies Kill Hannah.
Sideshows will be kicking off on Monday 27 February at The Forum in Melbourne and Wednesday 29 at The Hi-Fi in Sydney.
FIRST AID KIT MELBOURNE VENUE UPGRADE
Returning to Australia this March, Swedish sister duo First Aid Kit have proven more popular than they originally anticipated. Due to overwhelming demand, the sold out Northcote Social Club show will now take place at The Corner Hotel on Wednesday 14 March.
With their warm vocal harmonies and folk-influenced songs, the duo have been gaining popularity since the release of their second album. The duo will also appear at Golden Plains, Womad and The Spiegeltent in Melbourne, which is selling fast.
SISTERS OF MERCY ANNOUNCE SECOND SHOW
Having sold out their Melbourne side shows, The Sisters Of Mercy have wasted little time in announcing their second headline show.
The UK post-punk icons (the 2010 incarnation of which features Andrew Eldritch on vocals, Doktor Avalanche on drums, along with Chris Catalyst and Ben Christo) will be playing a second show at the Corner Hotel on Thursday 1 March.
Their first, sold out, show is taking place on Tuesday 28 February.
Tickets to the second show are on sale now through the venue.
The band are playing Soundwave.
AUSTRA'S HAND-PICKED SUPPORTS
Austra has announced supports for her upcoming headline shows, hand-picking Sydney/Dublin duo Kool Thing for the job.
In town for Laneway, Canada’s Austra – a four-piece for this tour – will visit Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club Thursday 2 Febraury and Sydney’s The Basement Thursday 9 February.
Domino have also released a tour edition of Austra’s debut, Feel It Break. The record was streamed at theMusic.com.au prior to its release last year, so it’s got our seal of approval.
BLACK LIPS ANNOUNCE SUPPORTS
The hell-raising rock ‘n’ rollers from Atlanta, Black Lips (pictured), have announced the supports for their March tour, with local bands opening stages for them nationally.
Both Sydney and Melbourne will get the abrasive sounds of male/female duo Circle Pit, whereas Geelong’s Frowning Clouds will bring their swinging beats to The Corner in Melbourne and Bed Wettin’ Bad Boys kick off things at The Standard in Sydney.
The Painkillers will open the night in Perth and will be joined by Astral Travel. Finally Brisbane will have both Cannon and fuzzed out pop of Tiny Migrants warming the stage before The Lips take to it. On the Gold Coast the band will be supported by Velociraptor, Dead Beat Band and The Ottomans.
Black Lips’ tour kicks off on Thursday 1 March at Coolangatta Hotel on the Gold Coast, before hitting The Zoo on Friday 2, The Standard in Sydney on Sunday 4, Wednesday 7 at The Corner Hotel in Melbourne and Thursday 8 at Bakery in Perth.
FATBOY SLIM SIDESHOWS
One of the most celebrated DJs and producers in the world, Fatboy Slim aka Norman Cook has been at the top of the game for years. Already heading our way for Future Music Festival, he’ll be playing a couple of visually interactive sideshows that’ll have you scampering for tickets.
Winner of ten MTV Video Music Awards, two Brit Awards, and the creator of tunes like Weapon Of Choice, Praise You and The Rockafellar Skank, his shows are promised to have his own patented brand of party acid house and complex audio-visual production that will have audiences dancing up a storm. Support will come courtesy of Ajax, one of Australia’s foremost DJs.
Fatboy Slim will perform on Wednesday 7 March at The Palace in Melbourne, tickets via Ticketmaster, and Thursday 8 at The Enmore Theatre in Sydney, tickets available from Ticketek.

HYRO DA HERO SIDEWAVES
The most unusual act in the Soundwave lineup, rap artist Hyro Da Hero has announced sideshows to go alongside his appearance on the national festival tour.
Considered as an enigmatic performer with a fiery live show, Hyro Da Hero has been compared to Nas fronting Rage Against The Machine with his debut album Birth, School, Work, Death. A groundbreaking artist defying genres by meshing traditional rap with raging hardcore, this is a set not to missed for its sheer difference to everything else currently on the scene.
Hyro takes over Candy’s Apartment in Sydney on Monday 27 February and The Laundry in Melbourne on Thursday 1 March.
