Live Review: 30 Seconds To Mars, White Lies

With a quick outfit change into a dinosaur onesie, the band finished the night by pulling a bunch of lucky people up on to the stage for a selfie as they performed Closer To The Edge.

Reminding us all that he is far more than an Academy Award-winning actor, Jared Leto entered the stage in all of his rock star glory; from that moment, he was larger than life. Wearing a leather jacket and aviators teamed with his long golden locks, he was every inch the rock god. Working the crowd perfectly, he had the entire arena on their feet from the second he opened his mouth, saying “We're gonna jump so high, we're going to touch the stars!”

White Lies opened the night, playing a 45-minute set that was high energy and had the almost at capacity crowd sufficiently pumped up for the main act.

But it was the brothers Leto and Tomo Miličević that we had all come to see, and when 30 Seconds To Mars launched into their hour-and-a-half set, the crowd could not get enough of them. Working the crowd experttly, Leto was the absolute embodiment of rock star good looks, vocal perfection and a winning personality, delivering one hell of a performance. Showing the crowd that he is in fact a decent human as well as genetically blessed, he noticed a blind man in the crowd and pulled him up on to the stage with him.

30STM made their way through hit after hit with Search And Destroy, Kings And Queens (which saw a bunch of balloons released over the audience), Do Or Die and City Of Angels,  with Leto periodically pulling lucky audience members up onto the stage with him.

“Someone said in the paper that Jared Leto is inappropriate – well don't say I didn't warn you.  Fucken fuck fuck fuck fuck,” said Leto, showing his comedic side.
