Closing out the night and another enjoyable Gignition were hard-rock trio Sciatica, who got the crowd thrashing and kept rocking until the end with the swaggery rock’n’ roll style of their originals.

Kicking off another Gignition show down at the Railway Hotel was young local rock four-piece MindFreakz. Taking cues from Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones, the band managed to put their own rock spin on covers of Nine Inch Nails' Hurt and The Beatles' I Am The Walrus as well as an interesting rendition of Fatboy Slim's Praise You.

Next up were female duo Potato Dice. Made up of guitarist/vocalist Misha Bear and keyboardist Chloé-Jayne, the pair put on a fine performance with great harmonies. Bear's bluesy vocals were a stand-out on self-penned tracks.

As the crowd increased, punk-rock four-piece The Hacks delivered an energetic set full of big rocking guitar chords, thrashing drum fills and, of course, some mild language.

The highlight of the night however were four-piece indie-surf-rockers Loners, who delivered a tight set of unique originals that sounded like REM and Joy Division and more modern sounds like Real Estate. These guys are definitely one to keep an eye on in the future.
