"It lacks their trademark chorus of bold male baritones"

Moving away from their signature humorous horror-rock, this release offers less farce and increased accessibility. Ghostly stop-and-start slide guitar is a welcome addition in the understatedly catchy opener/title track. The song is more of a sinister whisper than the bawdy saloon singalong you'd expect. It lacks their trademark chorus of bold male baritones, though these return in the drunkenly sombre follow-up Close The Book. The EP is driven by the band's penchant for eerie folk-rock and channels Tom Waits by evoking seedy characters and vague, gothic nostalgia. They play 170 Russell, 20 June.
