Beyonce’s fifth LP is exactly what one would expect from the biggest pop star in the world: a masterpiece no one saw coming.

More Beyonce More Beyonce

Beyoncé's fifth LP is exactly what one would expect from the biggest pop star in the world: a masterpiece no one saw coming. It's useless trying to summarise exactly what Queen Bey does with this album, as she puts thumping beats, powerhouse vocals and guest appearances (hello Jay Z in the we've-all-been-there Drunk In Love) to craft mature pop music. The album seems to engage with the issues she faces now and with modern life, from feminism to marriage to Instagram. Cute factor piques with Blue Ivy's guest spot on the outro of Blue, while Pretty Hurts is the album highlight.
