The days of balaclavas and spray-canned intellectualism seem to be over for the Taffy-provocateurs, but their 11th album wraps the brimstone in a cardigan, sighing tiredness from a lifetime of anger. Rewind The Film is organic Manics, risking little more than rage against the George Clooney coffee machine before the acoustic tenderness has you dabbing the corners of your eyes. The Richard Hawley-starring title track is arrestingly hymnal while This Sullen Welsh Heart is as stripped back as the Manics have ever been. Take a moment to enjoy the reflection and the tears.
