In The Studio

Where did you record the album and why? Studios 301 in Byron Bay. A great space, in an awesome part of the world. The Neve console in there is also one of our producer Luke Wooten's favourites. Also, great pinball machine.

Studio Bar

What would we find in the studio fridge when you're recording? Being proud Tassie boys, Cascade Draught was a regular staple of the studio fridge. As the fortnight went on, they seemed to be getting opened earlier and earlier...

Interior Decoration

Do you hang anything on the walls to inspire you when recording? There's a list of quotes that we stuck on the back of the control room door. A lot of nonsense and immaturity, really, but one that I recall was "Capturing the essence of a boner..."

Ultimate Guest

If you could have any artist join you on the album, who would it be and what would they be doing? Keith Richards. Just sitting on the control room couch saying Keith Richardsey things, then laughing in that gravelly voice we all know and love. I'm convinced that would've contributed to a better album.

Fuck-Ups

Which band member fucks up the most during the recording process? What was the biggest fuck-up you can reveal to us? We all made a lot of clangers; we're a band, not Nashville session guys. It happens. But, that's part of our charm. However, I will admit that I did an entire vocal take of a song consistently a minor third away from the actual key... That was an interesting sound.

Favourite Track

What's your favourite track on the album and why? One Beer at a Time - We left the gang vocals till the very last thing to be recorded. Everyone joined in, our manager Steve White, Luke our producer, the whole band. Beers in hand, yelling.

Procrastination Techniques

When things aren't working what do you do to avoid recording? 301 Byron has a "Class of 1812" pinball machine which we all became addicted to. We developed a game where you shoot the ball, run down the corridor and back before it reaches the paddles.

Ultimate Studio

If you could have recorded the album anywhere in the world, where would it have been? Wouldn't change a thing. We had a absolute ball at 301 and the sounds we got exceeded our own expectations. Nashville and the like can come down the track.

How Many Jelly Beans

How many albums do you think you will sell? To quote Lars Ulrich, as a band, we hope that "this is the motherfucker that keeps the pool heated..." But, we can only work hard, push it and see how we end up.
