Firefighters were called to the venue just after 1am this morning.

The second floor of popular Melbourne venue Bimbo Deluxe has been damaged following a fire overnight.

As Herald Sun reports, firefighters were called to the Fitzroy establishment, formerly known as The Punters Club, at around 1.20am this morning.

Firefighters were able to get inside and contain the blaze. No one was trapped or injured in the fire and investigators are currently at the scene to establish how it was caused.

While now famous as a rooftop bar and pub, in its previous incarnation Bimbo Deluxe (then as The Punters Club) was considered one of the premier venues for live acts throughout the '80s and '90s.
